Steel Curtain

By the way, I have chosen “Steel Curtain” to be the name of my blog for a few reasons. I am from Pittsburgh where we care more about football than…well everything else. In the 1970′s, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defense was the backbone of our dynasty that led us to win 4 Super Bowls. The four defensive linemen were referred to as the “Steel Curtain”. They were arguably the best front four (and defense) of all time…arguably. At the beginning of this dynasty, we had temporarily lost our quarterback, Terry Bradshaw, due to injuries and had essentially lost hope. This is when the defense started to shine. This is when the Steel Curtain emerged.

Anyway, I draw a bit of inspiration from this. I find myself constantly asking how I can be my own version of the Steel Curtain in what appears to be a very hopeless time for education in America.  How can I be a solid force and completely obdurate?  Of course, I can’t do it by myself.  So even though you (probably) hate the Steelers, I need some teammates!

Well, for the sake of exposing you any more corny metaphors, I’m going to wrap this up now.  Goodnight and go Steelers!

Love your blog title! I don’t think it’s a corny metaphor at all–I’m on your team!
